Bellevue is built.

The home and estate of Samuel Pomeroy, it is located on the site of today’s St. Gabriel’s Monastery and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital at 159 Washington Street. Pomeroy is a founding member of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society and begins to employ the most advanced agricultural principles of the time in creating and maintaining his gardens.
